What people ask us
How does Navyreplace Tree Service work?
Navyreplace Tree Service is a referral service. We do not remove trees ourselves. You tell us about your tree, and we connect you with an independent local provider in our network. The provider visits or reviews your photos, gives you a written quote, and does the work if you say yes. You are never required to hire anyone.
What are early signs that a tree should come down?
Spot it early. Look for dead branches, deep cracks in the trunk, mushrooms at the base, leaning that is new, or roots lifting the soil. Hollow sounds when you tap the trunk are another warning. Small signs often grow into costly damage, especially after a hard freeze or a summer storm. A provider can judge how serious it is.
How much does tree removal usually cost?
Typical U.S. prices run from a few hundred dollars for a small tree to several thousand for a tall or hard-to-reach one. Know the price drivers: height, trunk width, access, nearby buildings or power lines, and cleanup. Costs vary by job, so compare written quotes and check what each one includes.
Can I cut down a tree myself to save money?
Small shrubs and low branches may be fine for a careful homeowner. Larger trees are different. Falling limbs, chainsaw kickback and power lines cause serious injuries. Professional gear and training matter here. You can help by clearing the area, moving cars and securing pets. Leave the cutting of big trees to a provider.
Should I ask for more than one quote?
Yes. Compare written quotes from at least two providers. Check the scope of work, cleanup, stump handling and hauling. A very low number may leave things out. Ask each provider about insurance and how they protect your lawn and roof. Fair comparisons help you avoid surprises.
What should I do after a storm drops a tree on my property?
Stay clear of the tree, especially if it touches power lines. Call your utility if lines are involved. Then take photos from a safe distance. Request a callback to check provider availability for storm tree clearance. Some policies may cover sudden damage, so check your policy. Providers can often help document damage for a claim.
Do I need stump grinding after the tree is gone?
Not always, but a leftover stump can attract pests, trip people and sprout new shoots. Stump grinding turns it into wood chips below ground level. It is usually priced by stump size and access. Ask the provider to list stump grinding separately on the quote so you can compare the cost.
What should a good quote include?
A solid written quote names the work, the price and what happens to the wood and debris. It should say whether the stump is included and how the provider handles damage. Ask about insurance and any permit needs in your town. If something is missing, ask before you agree. Clear quotes protect your budget.
